Michelle Beshehn and Cherry

John Garcia

Attorney Fred Kray and the PBLNR crew are joined by Michelle Besmehn and John Garcia, dog trainers at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and stars of National Geographic's Dogtown. Michelle and John discuss evaluating the Vick dogs in Virginia, bringing them to Best Friends, and the experience of preparing them for forever homes. The adopters of Cherry, Howie, Little Red, Shadow, and Oscar also called in.

We also talk with Paul Tullis, who wrote "The Softer Side of Pit Bulls" for Time magazine (July 22, 2013, article available here, subscription required) about what inspired him to write the article, what he learned in his research, and what he didn't include. He covers problems with visual ID, finding reliable sources, and some of the history of dog-breed demonization in the media.
