The first, the Court case dogs, is a program in which dogs confiscated in drug arrests or for abuse are monitored, protected and rehabilitated. The second program, Youth Leaders, is a campaign to stop dog fighting by having high school leaders bring pit bulls and other street dogs adopted from shelters into Chicago grade schools. Finally, there is the Lifetime Bonds program that teams shelter dogs with at risk youth. All of these grassroots program have been successful, and could be instituted in any community.
